A free personal project, offered as-is, by someone who is learning this themselves. Using it means accepting the two things below that actually matter.
This is education, not professional advice
Setting Out is written with AI assistance by someone who is not a landscaper, not a landscape architect, not a builder and not a licensed trade. None of it has been reviewed by anyone qualified. It can be wrong, it can be out of date, and regulations change.
Before you build, dig, spend money or sign anything: confirm it with your local council, the Water Corporation, DWER, Building and Energy, or a licensed trade. In Western Australia, structural, electrical, plumbing, gas and pool-barrier work is regulated and some of it is a criminal offence to do unlicensed. Where a licensed trade is legally required, the lessons say so — but the responsibility for checking is yours.

No warranty, no liability
The site and its content are provided as-is, with no warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the extent the law allows, the author is not liable for any loss, damage, cost or injury arising from using it — including work you carry out, money you spend, plants that die, or approvals you fail to get.
Nothing here excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded. This is a free service, so those rights are limited in practice — but they are not being waived.
What you may do with the content
The lessons and reference pages are licensedCC BY-SA 4.0: copy it, adapt it, teach from it, including commercially — as long as you credit Setting Out and share your version under the same licence. The source code is MIT-licensed.
Third-party material stays under its own terms — linked videos belong to whoever made them, and regulations and standards belong to the bodies that publish them.
Your account
- What you write in the workbook stays yours. It is not published, shared or used for anything else. See privacy.
- Do not upload anything unlawful, anything that is not yours to upload, or anything you would mind losing. Uploads are capped in size and number, because the storage is a free tier.
- Do not attack the site — no scraping at volume, no attempts to reach other people's data, no circumventing the rate limits.
- You can delete your account at any time, immediately and permanently, fromyour garden page.
This site may stop
It is one person's side project on free hosting. It may change, break, go offline or be shut down, with or without notice, and an account may be removed if it is being used to attack the site. Export your workbook if it matters to you — that is exactly why the export button exists.
